Back in 1960, an industrious sports writer named Dave Campbell decided that, when it came to football, Texans deserved something a little better than what national publications could offer. For local teams, things like two-deep rosters and in-depth recruiting charts were tough to come by. People needed something to tie it all together -- to give an equal nod to professional, collegiate and prep football across all corners of Texas. It took a miracle, and so Dave gave us the "bible". That affectionate nickname for Dave Campbell's Texas Football has stuck with us through 51 years of publication, and our biannual magazines are a reminder why. Combined with our website, TexasFootball.com, the Dave Campbell's name still gives the rabid football fan all they need to know.
